2008 - l’anno della patata
Il 2008 sarà l’anno della patata. L’idea è venuta nel 2005 al Perù (che ne produce centinaia di specie diverse) ed è stata subito fatta propria dalla Fao. L’agenzia Onu che si occupa di cibo e alimentazione ha deciso di puntare sulla diffusione del tubero in tutto il mondo. Lo scopo? “Approfondire la comprensione del ruolo della patata nell’agricoltura mondiale, nell’economia e nella sicurezza alimentare globale e promuovere la ricerca e lo sviluppo di sistemi agricoli basati sulla patata come via per contribuire al raggiungimento degli Obiettivi di Sviluppo del Millennioâ€. In altre parole, in virtù delle sue caratteristiche, la patata rappresenta una risorsa da sfruttare nella lotta alla fame nel mondo.Â
